• Lim, Jackson, Ferguson

    May 10 – June 7, 2014 / Reception May 10, 5-8pm

“Resonance” is the title chosen by the artists Lesa Chittenden Lim, Meighen Jackson and Linda King Ferguson for their May 2014 exhibity of new work.
Multiple definitions of the word “Resonance” (harmonies among people and objects, the highest point of a wave, the moment when molecules become their most excited and the quality of a sound that stays high and deep for a long time) provide an optimal starting point to view the work and identify the steps in their creative process. The power of the present moment and the repose required for reflection and recollection are evident. The effort and concentration of observation is captured in the gesture. The spontaneity of gesture bcomes a core element each artist utilizes to construct a distinct, rich and fully realized interpretation of the natural world.

Observation, reflection and memory, resound lyrically from painting to painting and from artist to artist. The seen and the sensed are combined expressively and elegantly. Every painting is a poem, anchoring the observer visually, while expanding the possibility of recognition and the illumination of memory. Traces of the seen and unseen resonate and linger.

This exhibition will be held in partnership with the “Saving Daniel Rhodes” exhibit and fundraising effort by the River Gallery. 20% of all sales made during the “Resonance” exhibit will be donated to The Purple Rose Theatre Company and The Harold and Kay Peplau Therapeutic Riding Center – Home of Therapeutic Riding Inc.
